Analysis of the existing curricula of the most relevant renewable energy markets in the region, SOLAR THERMAL

This report presents the results of the analyzes carried out as part of Activity I.3 of the project, with a focus on solar thermal energy. Activity I.3 analyzes the existing curricula in the renewable energy markets that are most relevant in the region: solar and wind energy.

The Latin American and Caribbean region is rich in natural energy resources, however, it is estimated that only 22% of hydroelectric potential and 4.2% of the potential in Non-Conventional Renewable Energies (NCRE) are used. The great availability of these resources has led governments to become actively involved in the implementation of public policies that seek to increase their participation in national energy matrices.

The strategies to promote them in the region have been diverse, but the following stand out, the establishment of national objectives and commitments on their use, the mechanisms of energy auctions, premiums and regulated tariffs, certificates of clean marketable energy, tax exemptions, carbon taxes and access to national electricity grids, mechanisms that have been adopted by the countries with the highest rates of installed renewable energy capacity.
