Capacity needs assessment in Education and Training for Latin America, Solar Energy Report

This report brings together the results of an Assessment of Training Needs in Education and Training in Solar Energy sectors of 20 Latin American countries carried out between April and September 2019. The different results and conclusions of the work carried out by the project consortium within Activity I.1 are described.

Activity 1.1 of the ETRELA project involved the analysis of the needs of Education and Training in the field of renewable energies (RE) on an international and Latin American scale, the internal reviews of the future development of the RE sector, the value chain and the job growth and training needs and detailed consultations (through targeted surveys and face-to-face meetings) with key sector players in Argentina, Peru, and Uruguay.

During the last phases of the ETRELA project, a series of activities will be carried out to establish three training centers in photovoltaic systems in Argentina, Peru and Uruguay and to establish two training centers in solar thermal in Argentina and Peru. In addition, specialized education and training (“E&T”) will be provided to selected audiences based on Training the Trainers. The global focus and content of the E&T provided through the ETRELA project will be determined based on an assessment of the gap (both now and for years to come) between the global E&T supply of solar energy in a given country and current and future needs for solar energy capacity.
