Energy Outlook of Latin America and the Caribbean 2019

The Latin American Energy Organization (Olade) makes available the publication Energy Outlook of Latin America and the Caribbean 2019 (Energy Panorama 2019), English version, which presents the most relevant information on the energy sector of the Organization’s Member Countries, as well as information aggregated at the subregional and regional level for Latin America and the Caribbean.

The aforementioned publication displays more than 1000 charts with data on supply, demand, installed capacity, electricity generation, indicators and economic, socioeconomic and environmental information, as well as Sankey diagrams of the energy matrix, to name just a few examples.

For the second consecutive year this document presents a comparative analysis on prospective studies carried out by different organizations for the period 2017-2040; disaggregated by 5-year periods, both at a global, subregional and regional level, whose results have been harmonized by Olade, through common variables that allow forecasting and comparing analyzes of the future situation of the energy sector.

For the case of Latin America and the Caribbean, the document presents the projections made by Olade where it considers two scenarios (Current Policies Scenario -CPS- and the High Gasification Scenario -HGS-), using the “Model for Simulation and Analysis of the Energy Matrix (SAME)” developed by Olade.

It includes a chapter on the relevant events occurring in the energy sector in different areas and sub-sectors and another chapter on “Legislation, regulation and energy policy” in which the most recent changes in this field are detailed, at the national level.

From Olade we hope that the Energy Outlook of Latin America and the Caribbean 2019, English version, will constitute a document that contributes to the knowledge of the energy sector and is a reference of energy information for the countries of the region.
